My grandson got the thing shown in the attached pictures for Christmas he asked me what it is. I don’t have any idea. Can anyone tell me what this is? It is a container with only a spout opening and a pull out pour tube. The bottom has what appears to be a sump with no drain. The only marking on the thing is “81” or “18” or “8L” the threee clips on the bottom are in a triangular pattern and appear to be for attaching the thing to something. Thanks for the help. :)

It looks like a vessel for holding liquid. The shape and size makes me think it should sit down inside a spare tire in a vehicles trunk. The three clip locations look like they are spaced to clip into three of the five lug nut holes.
I could see this being installed in the trunk of a WWII staff car to hold extra water for the radiator.
Or it could be a flying saucer.

Looks like the base off of an old military immersion heater. Can still buy them. They stick them in a barrel of water to heat the water for anything but drinking.

Same concept as the orchard heaters.

I looked st immersion heaters. All have top openings or flues attached. This vessel only has a spout opening with a retractable pour spout. It also has a bottom sump with no drain. Clips on bottom must be to fasten it to some sort of support frame. Please keep thinking. I am determined to figure out what this darned thing is, or was.

First reaction: LAND MINE!
Upon further review, I believe it is a heater for C rations.

He has no clue what it is. It is a metal object with a brass retractable pour spout in the only opening on the vessel. The spout is threaded for a cap or some other attachment.
