I recently replaced the clutch, throwout bearing, pressure plate and pilot bushing on my Farmall 240, utilizing the IH manuals for technical aspects such as torque specs, etc. The tractor ran fine and was parked in a dry, covered shed for four weeks. When used again the clutch would not disengaged and the inspection port showed that the wire clips that hold the pressure plate release fingers were all off and mangled, which was confirmed after splitting the tractor again. The pressure plate is under warranty and will be replaced but I am looking for any possible reasons or installation mistakes that may have happened so it does not occur again
