I pulled the motor to replace the front and rear seals, got that done. Its no wonder the rear main was leaking, it was hard as a rock. Waiting on the throwout and pilot bearings to show up so the motor can be slid back in.
Since I have it apart, thinking about moving the ring gear to a different location for the starter to engage at. There are two opposing dowel pins for the flywheel, will it only fit back on at one location or can it be put back on 180 degrees different from before? And FYI, that flywheel is one heavy SOB!
If thats not an option, can the ring gear be heated off, flipped over and reinstalled? The ring gear isnt really worn bad but a little. I have it apart, might as well make it last longer.
