Knock In Front Of H Trans.?

I Have a 1942 H and on last tractor drive was on a Gravel Road like a Washboard and quite rough and noise started, pretty solid knock, stopped when I pushed in clutch. After while it was not as loud and I released clutch several times and it finally stopped. Drove about 20 miles to home and didn't hear it again until I moved it in my shop today, and there it was again. checked it out. dropped plates in front and behind Hyd. Pump and took out Hyd. Pump and looked at thro-out bearing and shaft. and Coupler and they all seam O.K. I restored tractor in 2010 and has only been used on tractor rides since. I rebuilt coupler then. Bolts are tight and rubbers look good. The front Trans Bearing is a little loose. Seems like knock is in that shaft, you can feel it in the Trans. Case, even under your feet, pulled belt pully housing and gear off and don't see anything out of order. Has anyone had this problem with an H and what is causing it?? You might as well pull the top cover and check that top sliding gear shaft out good, give the pilot bearing and the rear bearing by the pinion gear. Replace the front trans bearing you say is loose.
Dad had a clunk or knock in the trans of the '51 M, turns out it was a crack at the bottom of the keyway groove on the drive yoke. New yoke and no more noise. Dad was positive it was the left rim loose on the wheel or the left wheel loose on the axle. Evidently the slight knock from the yoke reflected off the left wheel.
 
possible a piece of trash has gotten into a bearing race or in the input shaft assembly. Trash can accumulate in the galleys cast into the side of the transmission case. Those galleys feed thrown off oil to the input shaft assembly, the carrier, bull pinion and reverse idler bearings. Perhaps the rough road shook something loose.

If the front bearing is loose on the input shaft then the back one is too. Those two on the input shaft plus the main shaft pilot bearing and main shaft rear bearing work together as a system. The front three are pretty close coupled so consider replacing at least the front three as a set.
