Hey rustred! Did you know....

That when you take the little
cover off the side of the
injector pump, you get a Niagara
Falls of fuel flying out of
there & when you're seated, the
fuel flows down your arm & into
your lap? It also burns like a
such & so when it gets to your
neither regions? Then when you
shut the fuel off at the tank,
it's still going to flow back
from the return line? I gotta
tell ya, it made for an
interesting morning. Lol! The
good news is, the timing on the
pump is right on. There's also a
great flow of fuel to the pump.
So, with my "welcome to the
world of diesel engines"
initiation aside, I now wonder
what is causing the tractor to
start like it's running rich &
be doggy. It made it up the big
hill just fine in 5th, DD. Just
has no ooomph taking off of the
line. It runs smooth, the
exhaust is clean a few minutes
after starting. The engine is a
little clatter-y, but I haven't
retorqued the head or gone over
the valves yet. So, what might
be going on?

lol... no i have not tryed that, i shut the tank valve off. it will only drain whats in the pump. the return gas a check valve in bottom of tank. and yes they are a clattering engine till warmed up. it is normal for them to have smoke on start up. no tractor will have a lot of uumff on take off in 5th. but it will take off smoothly say at 1000 rpm.

There's a check valve in the tank? Mine isn't working then. The valve on the sediment bowl works good, that I'm certain of. The 560 ran for about 10 min before I left for my first outing to see how it would react to the rebuilt pump & if my leaks were in check. It was warm, but the indicator was not in the green for RUN. It will only touch the low side of RUN even under a good load. Might need to invest in a warmer thermostat or shutters.

Now, I'm off to open the bowl valve back up on the tractor. Don't want to post back with fuel starvation issues. Lol!

pull the check valve out and clean it. unless someone has made it into a non checkvalve.

its on the bottom of tank, remove the return line then remove the brass valve thats screwed into the tank. sometimes they get junk in them and also a coffee looking stuff from the pump when the fibre disc is failing.
