Just wanted to let you guys know that I pulled the glow plugs & cranked the engine over. There was no antifreeze in the cylinders. There weren't any signs of coolant out of the drain plug on the pan, either. Don't know where a gallon of coolant is hiding. If anything, it might just be in the block. Can't seem to find a block drain on a D282, so I'm not going to worry about it. Had some other odds 'n' ends to tend to & had to take the dog out while Mom's OT was here. Soooo.... I'm on my way back out to add fuel & prime the system. I'll see if that head gasket wants to seal on a short run of the engine, as per rustred's instructions, add hot water to the system & run it again & see if it still leaks. Well, lets see if I can do this right & get a dry fuel system to prime. Still my first endeavour into working on a diesel & not sure how things will turn out. Right or wrong, it's all a learning experience.
