What do I need?

I went to do a tune up on my new to me Farmall C and am a little confused about the points. The new set is from CaseIH but they do not match what I took out, nor do they line up when I put them in.

When I look then up online they all look the new set I bought. Can anyone tell me what I need? Thank you.

Take your old set to a NAPA dealer that has an older parts man.
If they ask for the make and model of car/truck so they can
look it up on the computer, leave.

Not sure this will help but NAPA shows two different sets of contacts(I know most call them points but the sort of correct term is contacts) that look very close to each other:

The part number CS1601 is what fits my Farmall BN with a magneto so I might guess if you have a distributer engine then maybe the CS1600 might be what you need?

One more time where CaseIH has let me down. I spent close to half an hour trying to find something as basic as a part number for the contacts in the distributer of a C and never so much as found any way to even see a picture of the distributer let alone find a part number!

Thanks All,

Ran to NAPA and the guy pulled the box off the shelf: CS1603

In all the years of doing tune-ups I have never ran into this style of points. I am working on a very original 1948 C.

Again, Thank you!

I would reface your old points. I
don't think anyone is making
serviceable points any more. Certainly
don't throw them away.

I've noticed that too. Doesn't seem like the points are very good quality anymore.

That part number I missed, but in the picture in the catalogue it does not show that part number "CS1603" as having the adjustable contact as part of the set. Or at least it's not in the picture!

I'd kind of like to have one set of each of those three numbers all lined up next to each other so you could see the differences between them.

The only thing that is obvious from the pictures is which side of the spring has the opening for the screw.
