super a tie rod end has lost or broken the grease fitting. i thought i would replace it and if it screws in and out, i could not get it out. so plan b: i would drill a hole and drive in a fitting. ha ha. could not cut it. hmmm so i finally held the drive in fitting in place and got some grease into the tie rod end.

tie rod seems to be o k , otherwise.

ideas?

Is it possible to drill out the existing zerk base (?) guessing the stub is there and it broke off. That would at least be a soft piece of material, comparatively.

Left hand drill bit would be best to start with as it might grab and unscrew the remainder of the fitting.

Worst case if the internal threads got drilled out, then the drive-in fitting could go back in the same place.

If at all possible I would measure/mark the position, and remove the full rod-end and set it up in a machine vise (drill press or better milling machine), but understand that sometimes that can't happen and field repairs must be performed.
