Farmall 300 Steering Wobble

My Farmall 300 row crop (single front wheel) has a bit of a washing machine agitator action (wobble). My I & T manual seems to say there is NO adjustment and replacing parts is the only fix.
True??? Thanks, kelly
 
If it's like our SMTA--which I believe it is,
take the cover off of the top of the bolster
up front & check for play in the worm gear &
sector.
Also check for the nut which holds the sector
gear---which is splined to the shaft---to have
come loose.

The sector gear may be able to be turned 1/3 of
the way around for the worm gear to ride on a new
place.

Of course, this means removing the hood---not
easy.

The knuckles on the shaft between the steering wheel and front bolster could be shot & they probably can't be repaired either. Good luck.
 
The Ujoints in the steering shaft can be replaced with new center crosses on some, and replaced entirely on some. The front wheel lower "fork" must be set to trail like a shopping cart caster. The sector gear in the gear box on some production can be rotated 180 degrees (some are only 1/2 gears, some are 360) The ball bearing under the plug that holds the worm in place is a high wear point It can be replaced easily but requires a deep groove heavy duty bearing, not a same size cheap bearing. The bolster bushing under the sector gear can have play, that requires substantial disassemble and bushing tools to fix, and might have worn into the shaft. That might need building up and grinding to size to fix. Jim
 
I went thru my loader M and a H, this summer,the shaft was shot on the M, but had a parts M,but somebody put the washer on the wrong side of flat gear there, but the vertical bushing's had about 3-4 thousand wear,so i replaced them, on the H just changed the top horizontal one, the the top vertical,the bottom was good, the grease gun saved that one!!!!
