My brother has a IH plow. Traces of blue paint on the main frame, remnants of silver paint on the wheels, red on the tail wheel mount. Doesn't appear to ever have been repainted. P&O casting with IHC numbers on plow. What model? Pull type. thanks..

Sounds like a little genius plow, they were blue, and Red, not sure what color the wheels were, mine was painted when i got it,YELLOW,so they got changed to IHC white!

If the "P&O" logo is forged into the plow beam and has a chain driven lift mechanism then it will be a No.5 Little Genius. Sid.

Generally speaking: If the tailwheel lifts the rear of the plow it is a Little Genius. If the tailwheel is rigidly mounted to the rear bottom and the plow rolls around on its main wheels, it's a Little Wonder.

HOWEVER, that is just a guess, as your description is too vague to make much of a determination. There were many different models of plows even in the P&O days. Pictures would be required for a positive identification.

I stopped and looked at it. Looks like a #8. What he thinks is blue paint on the frame isn't. The wheels have been replaced. Hence the silver wheels. I forgot my camera. I will stop tomorrow and get pictures.

The wheels on the older #8 IHC plows were about the same color as manilla file folders, a light tan. Later plows had IH white wheels. IH had three different whites over the years. Which shade is correct depends on when your implement was made. Or, if your not interested in a "correct repaint" any of the three shades is fine. The current white is #935, has just a hint of tan in it.

Dr.Evil That 935 sometimes even looks like it's got a green tinge to it,depends on the light. i hated it at first!!! Looks ok at a distance, the other color doesn't show up so much!

Some one told me that IHC change the color scheme to basically "Red, White and Blue" during the World War 2 years to
more in tune with the Flag & National Pride. Wondering if this is true and also what were the colors before the war. I been looking at old Implements and seem like most have been paints Red, Off white and Blue with some Yellow wheels. I would like to get some of my implements the right color?? Cleddy

Think it's #902 white that really has a green cast to it. #935 is the only white for IH equipment being sold for the last 40-50 years. #901 white is a really white white, but when I went to get paint to repaint my 1965 Cub Cadet that should have had #902 on the hood & wheels, even with the PPG numbers I couldn't get it. I did have my choice of around 1000 other shades of white.
The paint for these old IH tractors and implements shouldn't be that hard to get. Moline Paint Mfg. that made the 2150 red for both FARMALL and the East Moline Plant is still in business. They also did the white, yellow, semi-gloss black, and the special Orange and green for custom painted tractors for the huge carrot farmer out in California that bought 10-12 new tractors at a time.
I released paint for shipment to FARMALL. One day a week the sales engineer from Moline Paint came in and inventoried every pail, drum, and 325 gallon totes of paint. The Forman of the Paint dept. Reviewed the list, decided what we needed, made a list and the Moline Paint engineer came up to my desk and gave me the list. He had already called MPM, the stuff was ready to load. And sometimes I ordered some stuff from Valspar as requested. Not sure how many other IH plants Moline Paint supplied.
