farmall m front wheels

i have a farmall m wide front end and loader , my question is it has the wedge style hubs on it . are there any other wheels that will fit as i just blew out the wheel at the wedge from the side load torque

I think this site may have some solid wheels. I think you also have to replace hubs with them. If not on here some other after market suppliers have them

I would recommend converting to a set of the variable tread width style sometimes referred to as loop mount, see link. I would think there would be plenty of these around in salvage yards. We had 4 tricycle Farmalls with this style on the farm and didn’t always treat them the nicest. Like cranking the wheels as far as they would go one direction and run the front end up against a fallen tree. Then use the opposite brake as you shove it off the edge of the field, some are probably cringing a little after reading that. Never had a wheel break that I know of. I would think this would be cheaper then converting to hubs for stamped steel wheels. Now unless your loader is just way to big for an M.

Why not? I put an IH early style wide front from an M on a 450. It had the non adjustable wheels, and I took the variable width hubs off a m nf and swapped them.

Guess I was not specific in the fact that it would require changing the hubs as well. If you get an entire junk yard tricycle front as Bob is offering below ..he called it a post.. you would have everything you need. Changing to stamped steel wheels would require a hub change also, and you would probably have to buy all new. That’s fine if money is no object.

i still am not sure what the variable hubs are i had purchased the louiville hubs but were to big for the old spindles

hello bob let me know about getting your hubs and wheels

You will just want to be sure Bob's spindles are the same size. For example a 450 diesel has a bigger hub and spindle on front wheels than a M.

If you have the IH wide front with tie rods to front of axle, you need wheels from a H, SH, 300 or 350 to fit the spindles and use the loop type rim. Some late H had the same casting as the later ones that have a thicker web at the loop bolt holes.

Yes hub or wheel. Most times you can find a number in the casting of the wheels. If you have number 6762 followed by a letter or letters for clamp type rims you need wheel number 8274D, DA or DB to put loop type bolt on rims on. 8274DB are the strongest.

hey thanks for all the responses , it makes life easier when some one with more working knowledge has answers to help speed up the job
