Our B had lots of slop in the steering - the steering wheel could be turned 70 degrees without moving the front wheels.
Although there is noticeable wear in the steering shaft U-joint, the real culprit was the ball bearing in front of the worm. That bearing takes the axial load in both directions. The old bearing was worn such that the inner race could be moved "back and forth" about 1/16". The new bearing is "tight".
Now I have only 20 degrees slop in turning the steering wheel, and no road gear shimmy.
I will post the bearing number if anybody wants it.
