Super M Behlen Power Steering

I was just wondering, if someone can tell from the pic, can I run one
of the hydraulic lines to the back for a remote from this setup? It
appear the two lines are just dumping back into the reservoir for the
power steering unless I am missing something. Didn’t want to start
disconnecting things without having a better understanding of the
setup. Thanks!

I am not that familiar with the hydraulics on a Super M, but I believe you would run lines for a remote from the unit under the gas tank. I believe the power steering setup is just for operating the power steering.

In a word, no. You need to add a flow divider and a 3 position 4-way open center control valve to your existing setup.

Plumb the flow divider so its priority port feeds the PS inlet and the other port supplies feeds the 4-way valve inlet. The 4-way valve outlets in turn get plumbed to the remote cylinder.

Reservoir for the power steering is in the steering unit and the pump the lines go to supplies pressure. Front pump supplies pressure to unit under tank and it is also the reservoir for that pump. If you want one line for pressure and gravity down, hook on one of the 1/2 inch pipe plugs on unit. Pull rod back for pressure and push forward to let fluid go back in unit through the same hose. If you want to operate a double acting hydraulic cylinder you need a valve added between pump and reservoir, Or another way is to supply a valve from one of the half inch pipe plugs. Pull rod back and lock lever to supply pressure to valve and the return line from valve can be done by installing a tee where the 1 inch pipe elbow exits the reservoir. Some put return line to fill hole. But oil can blow out there sometimes.

Several ways to plumb. IH decided to add a control valve to operate double acting hydraulics to tractors like the picture. Basically pressure and suction lines were teed to feed and return oil from valve and lines still went to reservoir. Lever on reservoir has a little lever under it to lock it pulled back to operate the spool valve. That setup lets the pressure relief valve in under tank unit still control any over pressure. Hydraulics on rear unit could still be used by locking lever with little lock on spool valve and unlocking rear lever. Not practical to use both ends at the same time though.
