Radiator disaster

My 560D Farmall is in the final stages of a season-end refurbishing and one of the steps taken was to replace the radiator and the fan hub bearing as both were marginal. The fan hub bearing was a particular challenge with the pulley being jammed on the shaft so hard that it broke when trying to press it off. I got another one from eBay and installed another bearing in the adjuster mount, using the clip to retain it and then pressed the new hub back on the shaft. Everything seemed to work fine when it was all buttoned up so I put on the panels and hood, etc. and drove it around a bit but everything went South all of a sudden because the hub and fan came off the shaft and gutted the new radiator.

I didn't see any clip or set screw to hold the hub to the bearing shaft and the original fan hub ran like that with no problem for 60 years. Before I replace the radiator and start all over, any idea what I did wrong? Is there some part or step I missed to keep the hub on the shaft?

not sure what u did , but when pressing things together you need a feel and eyes for the job. something was not a proper press fit if it flew
off the shaft.

When you get it back together again clamp no.
21..see link..in a vise. Hopefully there is a way to
clamp it good so this doesn’t break the mount
bracket. Take a piece of 2 x 2 about a foot long and a
claw hammer and try to drive the pulley back off. If
the pulley moves doing this the hole is to big to
provide a good press fit. You will have to get a
replacement pulley which hopefully will be machined
right. Many times on here called ..parts from the land
of almost right.. Sorry to hear you had a problem.

It was the fit of pulley on bearing shaft. Loctite it and do not
drive it on . Press it on in vise or press while supporting
opposite end of that bearing shaft. It's in the feel like has
been said.
