1964 Farmall 560 running poorly

I have a 560 that runs but not perfect. Compression is good, new plugs, points, cap, rotor and wires. I set the main fuel adjustment screw 5 turns out, then 4 turns then 3 and so on until the screw is turned all the way in and it seems to make no difference on how the tractor runs. The tractor runs with the screw all the way in. Is that normal? Not sure what else to check.

If you can adjust the main jet all the way in or all the way out and make no difference in how it runs then the carb needs to be cleaned and rebuilt because the main jet circuit is clogged up. When you screw it all the way in it should shut the engine down and all the way out you should get black smoke

Well all the way in it has to stop for sure , no other way it can run. You
must have something going on there to not be fully seating the needle.
And at 5 turns out it is fully off the seat and more turns out won’t do a
thing. Take carb off and pull bowl half off and look what’s happening.

Sounds like you're talking about the air screw on the throttle body.....the one with the spring. The lower screw on the bowl is
the main jet screw that regulates fuel.

sure , and unscrew the pickup tube and blow it out also also with the rest of passages. shoot some wd40 in the passages that way when u blow with air you can see if things are open.

So we are on the same page number 47 is the main jet, see link. There is a possibility that someone has swapped a later
carb on your tractor that has a electric solenoid in that position and uses no adjustable jet. The solenoid internal
closing valve can be cut off so the carb will work with no electric to it. One reply suggested taking out the ...pick
up tube.. to clean it, that is number 31. Also just so you are aware number 17 the fuel inlet fitting which has a
screen that can plug, but that doesn’t sound like it is your problem. Number 10 is the idle air adjustment needle,
only affects idle mixture when the throttle plate is closed for engine to slow idle.
