1944 Farmall BN oil pressure resolved

I think my oil pressure issue is resolved. Many thanks to all who helped figure this out.

Seems the gasket I painstakingly made is 1/32 thick and I guess about 1/30 too thick (it didn't pass the pop can gauge test). I resorted to gasket maker in a tube, being careful not to use too large a bead so it wouldn't squeeze out into the inner works.

In summary, the "fixes" I applied are: flattened the pump head and put new gasket on; switched to diesel rated oil; got a new pressure gauge to check the old ones (one was indeed bad) but the original IH gauge still works.

I now can report 40psi oil pressure and steady so far. Thanks again to all, Michael

Thanks, the pop can test is real. Shims used to measure journals is common old school functionality. Jim

I used plastigauge to measure the clearance, and ended up making a gasket out of really thin paper, it's been working great. And using 15-40 Delvac.
