starter for an F14

I have a 1st year production F14 and I'm considering trying to add a starter. Mine is miserable to crank by had as most of the parts, including the slots in the crank handle are worn and in my older years cranking that thing by had is no fun any more. Since its a mag and not used a lot I'm not concerned about a full electrical system. I can take the batter to the charger a couple of times per year. I know people have added starters to them and F12's so if someone could post a picture of one that has been done would be great.

I made up this portable starter so that I can start my tractors and hit n miss engines. I have made adapters for the different models.

This unit comes in real handy when you are timing, doing compression checks, or checking the mag on the tractor.

There was a fellow that lived S of Baudette MN that did one like that, with the starter and flex-plate in the area between the clutch and transmission, it worked well. He was one of the finest shade tree mechanics I have ever known! Unfortunately he has passed away.

on't laugh. If you can find a belt driven starter generator from an old Sears lawn tractor you can fabricate your own mounting and utilize the v belt pulley on the fan assembly.

I had my big drill rigged up and used that on the factory piece the crank goes on. I was lucky that Rice had the parts for the crank knuckle. I had to let a complete factory set up go once because other things came up real quick and I didnt have the money, but I sure do regret no being able to get it.

Ive also seen flywheels mounted to the belt pulley shaft and a starter mounted on the frame, but I couldnt find the pics of it.

I found a ring gear that fit the belt pulley. I tack welded it on. It had coarse teeth & a Chrysler gear reduction starter was the same. Built the bracket & it worked just fine with a lawn mower battery.
