Early F12 starting tank

Here are some photographs of the early starting tank. The fuel does not run via the fuel pump. Notice the spent shotgun cartridge someone has jammed between the radiator header tank and the starting tank; presumably there was a rattle.

If you ever take the hood off, I would like some pictures of the tank with dimensions please. Thanks, Ron

No trouble at all. I need to remove the carburettor for a thorough cleaning anyway. I'll try to get to it tomorrow, if all farm things work out well for the day.

The W-12, O-12, Fairway-12 all had their starting tanks set in the hood but it was a cylindrical tank and it was used in the later F-12/F-14. This tank is not in the parts book for the F-12/F14 tractors. I wonder if it is a special, possibly locally made, IHC tractors in Australia often have had Australian made bits fitted, i.e solid disk wheels on Farmall M and W-6 tractors, particularly wartime ones.

Nope, it's an IHC tank. The cast fitting with three revits is the same used on the f30 duckbill tank. The first 1000 or so ihc engines in the f12 had a special starting tank.

On page 123 of the parts catalog TC-9-B, it calls out gasoline tank 26316 DX for serial numbers 3035 to 4655.

The tank you are talking about is 38517 DBX for serial numbers fs 128727 and up.

Infact, they call out a special hood sheet for 3035 to 4655 kerosene.

This is the real McCoy. It is correct.
