Front wheel attatching bolts

I bought a narrow front pedestal, for my M, and also the two 16" rims (3 loop), used, out of Texas. I sold the WFE that was on it. I need to know what size, and length, and grade, the proper bolts, should be, to mount the 3 bolt rims on the pedestal? Are these bolts fine thread? do they use lock washers?, or are they using lock nuts?, and what grade should they be? There are only 6 of them, to buy, and YT parts did not seem to offer them! I don't have any original bolts to copy!

Nothing special about them. Originals were fine thread but it’s rare to find them on one. They’re 5/8 by about 3”

Wheel cast number ending with a DA suffix or lower used 5/8 x 2.5 bolt. DB suffix used 5/8 X 3. Early coarse thread and then fine thread. 13 gauge washer and a lock washer was used by IH. Whatever works to stay tight gets the job done.

5/8 x3". Square was 'factory',but common hexhead work just fine. The hex is hidden in the middle so no one sees that they are not'factory',but most people dont know the difference anyway.

Others gave you the size. Use at least a grade 5 bolt. If mine, I would use grade 8.

Thanks guys! I will try a 2.5 and see if I need the 3" or not. Then I think I will buy grade 8 ,fine thread, with nuts and lock washers, for the final mounting. With no front end loader, I could get by, with grade 5, but might as well go with grade 8. I am not trying to be original, but do want a good job, for future users, safety.

I just replaced the ones on my 300 a year ago. The bolts I used were 5/8 x 2.75 National fine, Grade 8 with a lock washer. Mine was a narrow front just like an M or H.

grade 8 fine thread with a lock nut is My choice -- but if the holes in the hub or the rim are wore out they might need tightening once in a while -- If You have a loader on it tighten more often -- ask Me-- I have had one! If You cant find 2-3/4 use 3 inch and put the wheels on the inside like they were supposed to be--- that seems to put less pressure on the bolts -- good luck ! Roy
