Farmall M Clutch

Hi everyone,
I am in the process of replacing the clutch and seals in the transmission on my Farmall M. I have already split the tractor behind the belly pump and replaced the seals on the front of the transmission. My question is when I remove the bellhousing casting that covers the clutch will the plate that holds the rear of the tractor remain fixed or do I need to support the back of the engine?
Thanks
Tom

You will need to remove the oil pan and support the engine. Once you take the flywheel off the tractor you will see the holder for the seal. Its 2 pieces and a screw is in the bottom covered by the oil pan.

If just replacing the clutch and pressure plate and center housing is still bolted to engine and everything is supported good, they can be changed without removing the housing. Belly unit needs out though.

That's what I understand, but because it's already split I figure it's just as easy to pull the housing off the motor and I can have the flywheel turned if needed
