H oil gauge question....

I wanted a cheap original oil gauge for my H. Found one on eBay a while back that is for a T-4. I thought it should work, the run the same engine. Figured out, after a while, that IH skimped out & put a C123 in those little crawlers. Is there really that much of a difference in oil pressure between the C123 & the C152? My H pins the needle almost right away cold. Might the gauge be bad & that's why it was pulled? Should the gauge be ok, is there a restrictor that can be used? Something like what would be used on a hydraulic line to choke down the pressure.

Just wondering. If all else fails, I'll have to hit up eBay again for another good used takeoff.

Thanks,
Mike

If your worried about pegging the gauge, a 2" Autometer or Stewart-Warner 0-100 PSI oil gauge should work.

Restrictiomns on the line would dampen the speed of response, but not the pressure reading. There is no adapter available. If you look at the "new" gauge as a 40 PSI gauge, it will tell you when that H is in trouble when the gauge reads 5 PSI hot and full throttle. So your choice. Jim
