384 PTO problem

Any one have any idea why the PTO on a 384 won’t work. It has not worked for a while, that’s all I know. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, look at 354 PTO link below.
The 354 has same PTO as your 384, look at the post from damojordan with the parts photo with the PTO engagement lever, Item #4 has a roll pin that engages into Item #5 collar that connects the rear PTO shaft to the front PTO shaft that is driven by the PTO clutch. If the roll pin on Item #4 gets sheared off then you cannot engage the PTO. The roll pin can be replaced by remove the 3 bolts on Item #3 and pulling the PTO engage lever out. It takes some luck and feel to get the PTO engagement lever and pin re-installed in the collar.

More explanation of don’t work would be a great help to diagnose the problem.
Most common problem is shearing the roll pin on the PTO engagement lever, so when you put the PTO lever in gear it is not pushing the collar that connects the rear PTO shaft to the PTO drive shaft from the PTO clutch.
