1952 Farmall M/MD Serial Numbers D Slater Help?

Looking for D Slater,

Can you help with first M/MD serial numbers for 1952 models
Some books show 52 m’s start around 285,000 while others show 290,xxx what one is correct
Also is there a list showing what month they started with what serial number?
I have md 285583 some books show 51 some show 52
Thanks for the help

Do you have the # or know what was the first M gas made in 52?
Also does anyone know last week or so when the last m was made?
 
Last regular model M chassis was 298219. But sometimes tractors IH made turn up with a higher serial number than records indicate so won't say for sure. First non diesel regular M in 52, 290923.
 
No they didn't make a bunch of diesels in a row. Wondered about why the number spread in the past and searched for a possible
answer. Will need to search again because having trouble remembering. Whatever the reason something caused a slow down on diesel
chassis getting completed as fast as the other chassis. Not a diesel serial 285210 or 212 could be a gas tractor completed in
November of 51. One thing I did find that I remembered where to find is IH stated MD 285421 was completed on 1-23-52. Diesel
tractors were a small percent of chassis. Like from 9-46 to 9-47 only 49 MD engine numbers were shown. Later in production the
percent grew .
 
Can't say for sure the following is correct but maybe had something to do with the number spread. Wildcat strikes in fall of 51 with reports of some plants shut down from 3 to 10 weeks. IH selling the military crawlers and other stuff for the Korean war. Can't find today if the diesel engine plant was down.
