Hey everyone! I am working on my 1955 International 300 and I finally got it up and running yesterday and drove it around for a while then I took it back to the garage to air up my tire that I noticed was a little low. Got there and turned it off, aired up the tire, and went to start it back up and all the starter did was "revved up" and did not engage the flywheel at all. I was just hoping someone could please give me a little guidance on this. Thank you for any help that you can provide!

Jared

It is an inertia starter drive. It uses its weight to cause it to spin out on a spiral track, entering the ring gear turning a little bit. If it
just spun up it either has goo on the spiral of the shaft, or the connection is weak causing the starter motor to spin up slowly. Is the battery
fully charged, and are tha cables as big as your little finger? if not, they are too small. (I assume it is still 6 volt) Jim

I changed the battery to get it started to get it home last year but it was a cheap one and this winter was pretty cold so I am guessing that I need to try a new battery. Just to make sure I will clean off the terminals on the starter coil to make sure they are nice and clean too. I will let you know what I find out tonight when I get a chance to work on it!
