Hello folks, so in the process of new points, condenser, cap, rotor and coil I think I screwed up the order of the plug wires. Is my finger on number one. The good news is I now have spark! Next step is to replace those nasty old wires.
Other things. In anticipation of a carb rebuild that I'll try myself, in the event I screw that up can you people recommend a carburetor shop. Seems like I remember one well thought of, but can't remember the nane.
And finally, I'm going to replace the outer axel seals on the old girl. Found the seals on this site, but what about the felt doohickeys?
Thanks all, your help sure does make fixing these old things up easier.

(quoted from post at 17:39:06 07/07/20) Your finger is pointing to #1 ; continuing clockwise #3, #4, #2.

Not to be too argumentative here but that would be IF no one has messed with the magneto and did something wrong.

One way to be sure would be to remove plugs and with only one plug hooked to the point you are pointing to. Have the plug resting on something metal to ground the hex part of the threaded end. Then turn the engine over slowly, hand crank if available is great for this, while holding a finger in the plug hole for #1 cylinder. A puff of pressure in the #1 plug hole should be followed by the click of the magneto and a nice bright spark at the plug.

I see your Magneto is to far advanced, follow the timing procedure in the IT manual after you get the firing order correctly assembled with new wire , Suggestions get magneto wires from Brillman . Just suggest

Best way to adjust the idle is to use a vacuum gage , plus that will point out other issues to correct to make your Tractor run great
