Farmall smta carb

I have a smta carb that I want to rebuild. When I went to order a kit, dealer told me that there is 3 different carbs choices,IH,Marvell, or Carter. I can't find a brass tag or any significant casting number on the carb. How do you tell what kinda carb you have. Thanks

Only one type as mentioned by Jim MA. there is a small copper disk riveted to the top 1/2 of the carb. it has a sequence of numbers on it that are
important. Find a parts person with a bit of skill. Jim

If original carburetor on a gas engine get one for carburetor number 356948R1 or R2. IH E-12 carburetor. If just getting a basic kit with needle
and seat and gaskets a lot of the basic kits will work on different number E-12 carburetors.

Then your dealer does NOT KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING as there is ONLY ONE GAS CARB for a S/MTA and what you SHOULD NEED for a REBUILD 95 % of the time is a needle and seat three gskts ( a carb to manifold , a body to upper and a governor tube to carb gskt and a load screw packing , some kits come with it some don't So in other words here ANY FARMALL M carb kit will work . Now ya may need a new throttle shaft and bushings and ya may not . Myself i like to get them apart and CLEANED before i go on the quest of what parts i need and when i say CLEANED i mean they take a 24 hour soaking in my nasty carb cleaner that will remove about three layer of hide if ya get it on ya and NO it is NOT EPA APPROVED .

Thanks guys. I've ordered kits for my M and Super M and never had a issue with this. I wanted the same basic kit as my Super M for my SMTA, but when he started to rhyme off all this other stuff he had me second guessing myself
