Farmall B PTO quit working!

I was mowing with my ‘48 B (woods belly mower) and suddenly the pto stopped running with no prior warning and no noises or anything. Is there a linkage that may fail somewhere? There are two PTO shafts and I have the rear facing one attached to the mower flywheel. Can’t find internal diagrams anywhere online!! I can’t seem to attach a photo yet.

Turns out there was a broken piece inside the pto shaft. Can anyone help find the seal that goes behind this gear??

The broken piece is what engages the PTO. i still cant upload photos but I need a gasket That I cant find anywhere.

It goes behind this gear!

does anyone have an expanded view of a pto rebuild? The gasket goes behind the pinion gear for the pto where the shaft and the belt drive case is.

You should be able to find an exploded view at caseih dotcom. The O ring from my previous post is PN 358208. Only gasket I see is PN 60589 and goes between the the power take-off housing and the transmission case.

Your problem is the tube that slides back and forth to engage the drive is not hooked up to the main shaft in the tranny does the lever move that sleeve. There is a pin on the lever that slides the tube back and forth. The lever does have a spring loaded pin to hold the pto either in gear or out. What happened when you move the lever'

Couldnt find a gasket anywhere so we are trying an O ring. Ill look up the one you listed, thanks!! The one we had sure looks like a piece of leather and seals between the main power take off and the side belt drive PTO

Yep that's it. It is a big rubber O ring. You'll have to twist the belt
pulley housing back and forth to get it to slide over the O ring. A
little lube will help it slip over the O ring and do be careful not to
nick or slice the new O ring. Don't ask how I know that.

It goes behind this gear!

there are steel shims that are use to adjust the back-lash of that gear they are the full size of the housing.

Not sure if this will help but I'm trying to attach a page out of my manual on the PTO.

And here is a scan of one of the shims:

have you checked the tube that slides back and forth putting the pto in gear also check the lever that moves it shims and O-rings are not the problem check the tube

I see the scan of the PTO section from manual is not the best. If someone wants a better scan give me an email address to send it direct as when the forum resized it it did not come through as sharp as it should have.

Forgot to say might be best is the email address was sent by "Private Message" think all you have to do is click on my name and it will take you to a page where that option is.
