Is there a proper way to remove the rubber plugs on outside of ramp? All the springs are stuck in except one. Also looking for replacement rollers and springs.

When I tore into the T/A on my SMTA I thought about just replacing the springs and pins, but other discouraged me saying if there was wear on the housing I'd be back in the same place and as you know it isn't any fun getting in there. I replaced the housing, ramps and rollers. I found it from a supplier. I didn't have to replace clutch as it was in good shape. You can also get complete rebuilt TA.Mine has worked really good since replacing ramps and rollers. Another option that is supposed to be stronger is the "Sprague" setup, I don't know if tht is just replacing ramps and rollers of if you have to change more.

When inspecting the TA unit for wear you want to take a good look at the carrier when the rollers ride and lock up when the TA lever is pulled. It should be nice and smooth.

I have a TA from a 300 in my shop that I'm replacing the ramp and carrier. I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow. The carrier that I taking out is really rough.

The Ramp also needs to be inspected when the rollers lock-up. What you are looking for is a pocket when the roller dents itself in the incline. Also the pins and springs need to be checked like you are talking about.

The TA rebuilders take the old carriers and they grind the surface until it's smooth and they also grind the angled flat spot in the ramp and then furnish an oversize roller that fits correctly.

I hope you understand what I'm trying to describe. If somebody else can describe it better just let me know.

By the way here is a picture of the cut-a-way that I have made that I have taken to a number of Red Power shows.
