Thanks for all the suggestions. Got my hay put up today, have one more small job and then won't need tractor in a while so can do more investigating inside. I had pto out of it once but that was before I knew I had a problem

Good luck!

As a sidenote, make sure you drain the transmission in all three places. there are three plugs underneath that thing, one for the rear end one for the midsection and one for the front section. The one plug is actually in a cover, if you want you can take that cover off and clean in there, then make a new gasket and put it back on.

I actually bought a 5 gallon pail of brake cleaner, and one of those pump garden sprayers, and Using the wand of the sprayer, is how I got into all the nooks and crannies. I then made a very long air nozzle using a piece of brake line, turn the air pressure of my compressor down to about 40 psi, and I would flush with brake cleaner, and then spray with air.

Wear safety glasses and a little facemask, LOL. A good whiff and a face full of aerolized brake cleaner and oil is not enjoyable!
