What is it For?

When I removed the dust shield in order to remove the belly pump on my 51H, this washer was in the shield. Any idea what its purpose is? I removed/replaced the pump and all seems well. I have studied the parts manual exploded view and can see no such washer associated with the pump or its drive train. I'm wondering if it was used as part of mounting an implement via a bolt though the body of the tractor. Any ideas?

Ouch! Does pump have to be removed in order to install this washer? How could it come loose and fall out before the pump was removed? What holds it in place?

look at the transmission shaft and see if the bolt and washer is there it holds the yoke on the shaft.

there is that funny coupler with 4 bolts connecting trans. to clutch shaft. should be able to look up in there and see if the bolt is there or not in the centre of the yoke on trans shaft.

If a 1/2 bolt fits the hole and its' 3/16 or 1/4 thick it's what the other posters say. Some one could have replaced the transmission input shaft and housing with a used one sometime and the washer was left over. But if they didn't put a washer on to keep the yoke tight to inner race of the front input bearing it can lead to other problems. Yoke key in input would contact inner race of bearing and keep shaft from moving rearward very far but it may still move enough to let the transmission main shaft pilot bearing retaining bolt contact the input shaft recess. Front input shaft bearing is retained from moving front to rear but thousands of a inch, when yoke bolt with washer is tight it keeps shaft in place.
