Farmall C Misaligned Rockers?

Long day of cleaning up the C. I finally have spark on it. However, found lots of water in the pan with nasy chunky oil. Dropped the pan and cleaned everything along with a new oil filter. Still remains to be seem how much of that got pumped up into the top end.

Anyway, I pulled the valve cover and aside from there being a fair bit of flaky rust that appears to be as old as the tractor, I noticed my rockers on a couple of cylinders are not centered over the valve stem. Some are at least half way off. It's been running fine like that for a while, but perhaps I should correct it? How do you correct it? It appears as though there are 'bushings' between the springs on the assembly and those seem to dictate the horizontal placement of the rocker over the valve.

How does one adjust this? Or do you just buy a new assembly?

Honestly, it looks like I could just stuff a couple of washers on the shaft if I could find some that fit it. Do they make SHIMS for this purpose? If so, where can I locate them?

As abnormal as this looks I believe it left the factory that way and no "correction" is required.

Trouble is, at overhaul time the rocker faces will need to be reground or the rockers replaced because of the wear pattern no longer matching after valve grinding or replacement. Makes it tough to get a good measurement with a feeler gauge, as well.

I believe mine was that way when we bought it, and I shimmed them back to being somewhat centered. You can buy shim washers at any good
hardware store.

If the tappets are wore, you will
probably have to re-shape them. I don't
think I would mess with that unless you
do a valve job and then do a major valve
train revamp.

Best to remove rockers, inspect contact radius’s for wear. If there wear you ca remove the wear with a small dumore per grinding wheel till the wear is
removed. Reset lash hot . Otherwise the lash will never be correct , engine will run poor .
