756 PTO wont engage

I am having an unusual problem here. When I lift the lever to engage the PTO is doesn't want to go all the way up to lock the PTO into the on position. I removed the linkage from the PTO control valve and determined that the problem is in the control valve. It feels like there is something internal in the PTO unit that doesn't allow the control valve to come up far enough to fully engage the PTO. Any idea what might cause this?

I did put my pressure gauge on the PTO and the gauge reads nothing. as in 0. Doesn't even wiggle the needle whether I have the PTO control valve in the on or off position. The PTO shafts do spin though, however they do not have enough power to spin my round baler.

I also tried to remove the PTO control valve. I loosened the big nut, but am unable to remove it from the PTO housing. Is it supposed to pull out of the housing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I do not know the answer, but two things stand out, if the internal pump has failed or can't get prime is one, the other is massive internal
hemorage from apply piston. Jim

No it does not come out the top , if it does then the tiny pin that keps the two halfs together is sheared . It comes out the BOTTOM . Now as to why it is not coming up i don't have a clue unless something got into one of the valve passages . . If you drop the valve out the bottom as that is how it comes out be quick about it and get the plug back in as it will start to drain the rear end. I would drop the valve and see if i could see anything causing the hang up . Now as for pressure setting on a 756 i would set at 235-245 HOT like in oil temp between 160-180 degrees.
