Farmall M Governor Leak

I rebuilt my governor a while back and have been running my tractor with a small governor leak it appears to be coming from what I have circled in the pictures not the seal which I did replace. My question is in the first picture it looks like the shaft that goes to the back of the governor doesn t have any kind of cover or expansion plug which is how mine was when I took it off and put it back on but in the second picture the governor appears to have some type of plug it almost looks like it screws in?

Second picture is a aftermarket power governor parts. No seal was used on original ones. Shaft is supposed to fit tight enough to
keep from leaking. Make sure the shaft is turned correct so when the cover goes it blocks it from turning.

That makes sense it s tight behind there to see but it looked like it was coming from that shaft hole I ll have to look a little closer. By the way those bushings you made work great it really improved the response.

I'm looking at the bottom picture and that shaft is installed end for end. Notch in shaft is
supposed to be on the cover side unless it has notch on both ends. Also, has snap ring to position
it for depth from cover side and correct orientation to prevent turning like said.

On the bottom one that is a nut with female threads and the shaft is threaded on that end. Found in several aftermarket governors. Some names were Thompson, M&W, Rocket, Hiesler and others. Don't think any of those brands were exactly alike from beginning to end of making them. Some but not all had small ball bearing instead of the needle bearings in the aftermarket yoke. Some also used ball joints with 1/4 bolts on the vertical shaft to throttle tube shaft. Aftermarket throttle tube also. Some used a different bushing in rear of governor housing. Some used two weights and some four. Some used a different spring.

I guess my eyes are not seeing that. Have had a few M&W governors apart but don't recall some of those points.

Like I said some brands, even the same were not all the exact over time. Think this was what M&W was selling in part of the sixties. Didn't have any parts out of a housing to take a picture that you could see better than this, but maybe enough to see if you worked on a different type. 13 has the small ball bearings and shaft 15 goes through the inner race. 6 and 7 was the was the nut and gasket that went on 15. Number 7 nut on all ones I seen has a screwdriver slot in head and threaded hole is blind. 17 is the IH arm and 16 was a bushing to put in the spring hole of 17. Throttle tube 11 just has a metal tag for name and model, others had that info made in tube.
