New to the antique tractor thing. I inherited a 1933 F-12 from my grandfather. I plan to restore it, as it was my favorite tractor as a kid. Can anyone tell me if this is the right magneto. Can?t really find that much information on them with Waukesha engine.

I think the Waukesha engined F-12 tractors had the E-4 magneto though the F-4 would fit but I do not think it appeared until 1934

Hard to tell what it is due to the battery ignition coil blocking the view.

One thing you can say for sure is the coil in the magneto is no good, just by the presence of that battery coil. Whoever had it running last bypassed the magneto coil and is just using it as a distributor.

you have an IH F4 magneto that has been converted to external coil, looks like the original magnet is missing.
Waukesha engine will run fine with the F4 mag. You could get a rebuilt F4 Mag and replace yours if you would like.
Would be nice to see more pictures of your tractor how is the condition?
Steel wheels or rubber?

Tractors from FS501 to FS2048, except FS600 to FS608, were fitted with an E4A magneto.

FS600 to FS608 were the first to use the IHC motor and ran a Bosch FU4 magneto.

The Waukesha motor was fitted to tractors from FS501 to FS3034.

Tractor FS3040 saw the change to the IHC motor.

The last 991 F12 tractors with Waukesha motor were fitted with the F4 magneto - that is FS2049 to FS 3039. (Unless special request was made for a Bosch FU4 magneto).

If your tractor was originally fitted with an F4 magneto, the serial number stamped on the magneto should be between F4-501 and F4-38847.
