Would the part number be the same for a Thermostat on a Super M as it is for the H.
Thanks!

While rebuilding my M motor (in progress) I did not see a thermostat. Any thoughts on whats going on.

jiM - Most likely the original thermostat failed and got stuck shut. Someone then removed it to keep the tractor running and never bothered to replace it. Happens quite a bit....

so Bob I should replace it right, and with what type for a M. What damage will this cause if any if let as is, just wondering on that.
thanks jiM

jiM - I highly recommend installing a thermostat. Otherwise the engine's gonna be running cold all the time. This results in rapid build up of condensation inside the engine, dilutes the oil and shortens engine life. Also a cold engine will burn more gas and just generally doesn't run as good.

If you have an AutoZone nearby, suggest their #800-180 (about $4). Otherwise get one from your IHC dealer - figure on $15 - $20 however.

Yes - they all use the same thermostat! Autozone part no. 800-180 will also fit. It looks different, but works fine and costs only about $3 - much less than the IHC part.
