putting oil in drop axles on B

If the pans are install correctly there should be a pipe plug toward the tops that you take out and fill them up till oil come out.

On my A, I screw a 3/4" street elbow in the fill/level hole with the opening pointing up, then I can pour the oil in vertically instead of having to use a fill/drain gun to do it sideways. I can look down in the elbow and easily see when it's full. Brian

You fill through the square head pipe plug above the front draw bar on each side of the tractor. As with any of this type, full is when you can just touch fluid with tip of little finger inserted through the fill hole.
If you haven't changed that fluid recently you should drop the pans on both sides and clean them out. Removal requires taking out about 8 bolts on each one. Will probably need new gasket on each side.
Refill with 80/90 gear lube.

The pans have nothing to do with it. The fill plug is in the final drive casting, on the inside, in front of the drawbar mounting, just above those pans on the bottom of the final drive. It has a hole about 9/16" square. Sometimes a 1/2" ratchet drive will fit tight enough to turn it, if yours are worn, you may need to improvise with something a bit larger.

I have a Woods L306A belly mower on my A and the mounting brackets block the access to the plugs. I bought the tractor 3 years ago and have mowed my 2 acre lawn every week in the summer so that really isn't very many hours when you think about it. The previous owner said all the fluids had been changed right before I bought it. I have noted no leaks but would like to change the oil in the pans at some point. If I were to drop the pans and fill them full then reinstall them would that be enough oil or do I need to pull the brackets? If I have to do that I will burn or drill the holes that in my opinion Woods should have put in there. Thoughts anyone? Thank you in advance.
