686 coolant tank

What is the purpose of this tank on the right side of the motor? 312 diesel. I am flushing the coolant system and didn't know if there was anything special to do to this tank. Thanks.

That's the oil cooler!

THAT is and oil cooler , High pressure oil flows thru it and inside is a bunch of copper tubes that that the oil goes theu surrounded by a constant flow of Cooled water from the rad.

Nothing special to do. Like said oil cooler.
