IH H or M loader

What was the model number for the early front end loader that fit on Farmall H/s and M's, had channel iron side arms and shoes that would help with the breakaway force? I would like to find one not to far from central, NY!

McCormick 31 loader. Used to be many sitting in the fence row. I would imagine that you could find one regionally if you are willing to wait a few months.

I believe it was the #30 that had those breakaway shoes. May have been an option on the #31, but I've been around several #31s and none had the shoes.

The "Shoes" made it very difficult to steer until they were off the ground. Many farmers removed them to make the loader more maneuverable.

It's a model 30 and I presently have a working one on my 300. I sometimes say I use it like a bulldozer.

Our #31 loader had those shoes, & they were a real
pain. I was the guy in charge of removing them
while I was still in school.
Dad just about had a fit, because they came on the
loader & should still be on it----IH could not have
put them there if they weren't good.

Those shoes would get manure on one end or the other,
& would drag & catch on anything.
Didn't take long for Dad to admit that removing the
shoes were indeed an improvement.

We are still using that #31 loader on the SMTA. The
flat tines on that loader are still the best for
getting into packed down material.
