IHC carb fuel inlet

I have a 49 cub with the original IH carburetor. Since getting the tractor home and fixing a few of the ailments, I have found that the fuel inlet threads are pretty much stripped. Is there a way to repair the threads and keep it the original NPT size? I'm unaware if helicoils are made in that size or if there is enough meat there to put one in without destroying the housing.

This works well. I would just barely remove material from the face of the threads to allow th fitting to get 1/16" farther in the hole, then use this product as directed. Worked well for me. Jim
Lock tite.

A little steep on the price, but I found it a little cheaper on the web. I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

Yep like Jim said and posted i personally have used this product on a H carb as around here i do a lot of carb work since i am and old Fart and have been working on cabs now for darn near 60 years. There is no rethreading , drilling . You do need to start with a clean carb and clean fitting. though . Once i run them thru my carb cleaning stuff they are clean as new and you follow the instructions to the letter and you can remove and reinstall one kit will do more then one carb .as it is like the old Brillcream a little dab will do ya and use the thread unlocker on the inlet fitting .

I actually have one of those carbs ordered in case I have to swap the top. If nothing else, I can swipe the jewelry off it. The floats are plastic as I understand. Jets are probably all the wrong size since they don't use Freedom Units over there.

I?ve brazed it to fill in the strip section . Mill with end mill to true , don?t drill will walk of center and the retap with 1/8 npt tap
