My memory is is not to sharp on that, but don't remember having any problem putting the balls back in and keeping things together until it was put on the shaft and the nut started. Then just spin the part for lever to the right place and outside half goes in the cover notch or vice versa if I remember correct when you have most of unit together. Plug in the outside half was used to put high temp grease in, think it was ever 100 hours. Thinking I used to assemble the shaft that goes in the differential with clutch parts and all, with disc splines lined up and clean splines in the hub it all could be put in the hub. Then brake cover and adjust nut for correct snap in pressure.
