what year is my D 239 motor ?

Is there a list for motors for to find out what year the motor is ? I have a backhoe made in 74. I think the original motor
. but would like to know .

I have never seen an engine serial number list for those, but the D239 engine was used in production for approximately 19 years in several different tractor and equipment models. I think the earliest was the IH 544 starting in 1968 and the last was the CaseIH 4210, which ended production in 1997.

That engine played a pretty major role in me deciding on a 684 as my first tractor. I figured if IH used it that long, it had to have been a good 'un.
