I have a 1949 Os6, how many of them were
made? What was their main purpose and
are they considered a rare tractor? What
is the tractors value?

I don't know how many OS6 tractors were built, but a fair number of AOS-6 tractors were built in Australia (hence the A). Pretty much all kerosene tractors here and sometimes fitted with a Lucas magneto instead of the IHC H4, which was NOT an improvement!

The Austrailian AOS6 tractors used the Doncaster UK built SBW6 engines and
transmissions with the useless Lucas SR4 magnetos. A friend of mine has one of these
tractors wich came back from Austrailia about 10 years ago. MJ

Guy Fay's Letter Series Originality Guide says 831 tractors OS-6 built between November 1944 to November 1, 1952. Guy's book doesn't specifically say, but I'm sure they were built at the FARMALL PLANT, many many similarities to the W-6 which was built there.

For interest, here is a link to some Australian-built IH tractors, including AOS6.
