How hard would it be to replace the rear main seal? It leaks big time. Also, I hear a slight knock, like the wrist pin maybe. I've heard the many IH's sound like this . Any opinions??

Here's a link to a parts diagram that makes it pretty clear what's involved. Zoom in on parts 1,2,3 4 and 5. You'll have to split the tractor and remove the flywheel. Without hearing the engine I cannot say what the sound is, but it could be a bad bearing. If the rear seal is leaking as bad as you say, I suspect that it is probably badly worn. I hope the crankshaft is not damaged.
