Seems my friends 282 head has a crack in it according to Shop they are using. They r searching for a replacement head. I told him that I heard they are repairable but I guess this shop doesn't do this.
Does any one have experience with a shop in Texas that has repaired a crack in a head for you . He lives near San Antonio TX.
Thanks:

Not in Texas. But there is a guy here at Eckert,CO. that does this.He once 'pinned'/repaired a straight 8 from a Packard. It had a crack over a foot long.Said it took 3 days.Guy builds racecar engines. He is GOOD.We just used him to overhaul a JD 4440 engine.

you would probably be better off just finding a different head. By the time you ship head somewhere and get it repaired you will have lot of money spent. It is a common head and readily found in salvage yaeds.

Willams cylinder head repair Nevada Iowa welds them up unless their complete trash.Better find a good used head that has been tested.
