4,or maybe 5.The balls are only a small part of the brakes. Check the ramps for a groove or flat spot(i'll bet there is).The ramp must be a smooth incline.Dig the dirt out of the grooves on the disks, open up the ends of the grooves. Checlk for ridges on the disk.An extreme case may require turning(just like you do a flywheel) on housing(s) and actuator and new disks. Several things to check. When you reassemble, use no oil, anywhere. IM me on FB if you want. Steve.

The left brake on my Super H was sticking on a couple years ago. Went to my friendly CIH dealer. Bought 3 new ball bearings per side, 7/8" diameter, were $1.65 each, the fancy coily spring that holds the two actuator plates together were almost $20.00 each, two of them each side I think. The A&I friction disks were thicker, which I needed, and a bit cheaper than the CIH disks.
My Super H still has the factory ground friction surfaces on the inside of the brake housing, actuator plates, and the bearing carrier on the pinion shaft. It's a rather low hour tractor for now 65 years old as of last week.
