I m starting the restoration of a 1939 f14. It s definitely a 1939 after researching the serial number via multiple sources. But I m confused because although it only has a single gas tank, it has a few kerosene features, like a kerosene exhaust manifold (see picture) with a lever to adjust the intake/exhaust. It also has the flaps on the front of the radiator with a lever that the driver can use to open or close them. Unless I m mistaken, both of these were primarily features on kerosene tractors a few years prior to 1939?
I know for a fact this tractor ran on gas since my uncle bought it in 1983, but is it possible that it was originally kerosene?
Also, this exhaust manifold is pretty roached so I was going to try and buy a new one but I can t find it anywhere. Seems like only gas manifolds are available (and even those are out of stock). Maybe a phosphoric acid soaking of this old rusted manifold would suffice?
