You were right Tractor Vet even a Cave Man can adjust a Ih 756 clutch with your steps!!The clutch is working much better but now it is shifting harder I assume I need to back off one of the adjustments but not sure which one?

All the trans brake does is help stop the rotation of the gears to shift. I would think it is the Dump valve that needs the adjustment. Don't have a tractor with a TA on /in it so can't say on how to adjust. TV will be back to you I'm sure.

It is not grinding when I shift it feels like it is stuck in which ever gear I'm in when I go to change gears. If I put it in neutral then it will switch gears easy. Thanks for the replies.

Sounds to me like the dump valve is not dropping pressure on the TA front clutch. Are you pushing the pedal far enough to get the light on? If not, the applied TA clutch will (at times) bind up the transmission and make shifting difficult. Jim

Did you check for rollback on a slope when adjusting the dump
valve? If it will no roll back before clutch tries to move
tractor you need to adjust dump valve until it does.

If that checks ok unhook transmission brake as too much pressure
on brake will also cause hard to get it out of gear. Normally
one half to one and a half turn of tension on transmission brake
is all you want to avoid problems coming out of gear.

Well you are still not set quite wright just yet . when you set the dump valve did you stop turning in the adjusting bolt on the dump valve as soon as the light went out ?? Then did you let the pedal up and ADD one more FULL turn in then lock the lock nut down ?? and like Pete said when setting the trans brake your first part is done with the clutch pedal down to the stop with the engine OFF and with the lever back against the the gear inside with just hand pressure and you adjust the clevis so that the pin will slide thru the clevis and into the brake lever , then ya let the clutch pedal UP and then you ADD and here lets start off with just a half turn and install the pin and lock the loc nut down and try it and see how the transmission slows down , if it takes to long to slow it down then ADD another half turn and check again . Remember the trans brake is NOT suppose to Stop the transmission the instant you shove the clutch down it is meant to SLOW the transmission down . and like Pete said if ya got a hill you can do the hill test . This is where you drive up the hill and shove the pedal down and the tractor SHOULD ROLL BACK And should come out of gear easily with out tugging and jerking of the shifter levers. When you have them set dead on they will shift with two fingers even the 06's will shift easy . Like i said depending on how much ware your tractor has will determan how the adjustments go . If you were close i would be willing to show you . If i was more high tech i could make a video and explain in more detail . But i am OLD and still use a FLIP PHONE .

TV I did forget to add the extra turn on the dump valve with the clutch up so more tweaking later I'll try it on A incline also like you recommend Pete. Thanks to all for the help you are dealing with a total non mechanic so the advice is appreciated.
