just wondering- can I use a starter from a 330 U on a 300 U? I mean just bolt in, temporary. Both are 6 volt. My 300 starter is acting up and needs bench time. thanks all

I don't think you can. they appear similar but according to my old 1961 Delco Remy catalog the original starter numbers are different and the most apparent difference is the drive housing numbers are not the same. I do not know what the difference is. In other listings the 330 and 340 are the only tractors that share that starter

if you want to split hairs it actually derived from a Farmall A
having known that already I can see why the OP would ask as the actual design of the 330 is derived from 300u

They use the same armature, drive gear and gear on flywheel. Could be as simple as the way body of starter is turned to clear
something on the utility tractors is why different numbers. Or the center housing puts the stater a different distance from the
starter gear. Think those housings have the starter hole in the same location though. If nothing else you should be able put the
300 nose on the 330 starter and use.
