Front Pedestal Lube SMTA

If the seal is leaking the cheap fix is cornhead grease. It is a very soft low temp melting point grease. Regular gun grease will track/channel and not lubricate very well. 80/90 will work also if your seal is good.

With the grill removed from the tractor, remove the cap on top of the bolster that is mostly round with one flat spot in it has either 4 or 5 bolts around it. Put the grease in there where the worm and sector gear are.

Here is a picture of that cap.

I blended up my own mixture of 50 - 50 red wheel bearing grease and 80-90 wt oil, in a coffee can with a coat hanger in my drill. Whipped it up to whatever consistency would slowly p-o-u-r right in, and it works great. Stays there, stays inside, will not channel, and it's RED like it should be!
