i bough a 544 ih last winter guy told me it had water in oil. well no big deal i figured bad o rings sleeves. well he forgot to mention that it had a cracked block thy repaired on out side with j-b weld so replacement block from salvage dealer with one year warranty that it was good and it is a good block this by the way is a 239D engine so did a complete over haul i do between 5 to 6 engine every year for last 25 plus years. after about 50 hrs pulling 12 foot bush hog it strips the teeth on the engine blancer and ruin's the gear on the crank . i cant for the life of me see any reason for it to have done that. any one have any idea on reason . i seen several 544 on market place that ty say have bad blancers i am open for suggestion or idea maybe some one can shed some light on this deal

My guess from here would be either gear teeth meshing too high or possibly incorrect assembly-that is not timed correctly. The gear on the crank has to be timed to the crank and the balancer has to be timed to it. Or bushing /bearing failure in the balancer. Mark.
